1953 Turner F2

1953 Turner F2

A rather unique prospect, typical of the early 1950’s period, commissioned by John Webb who was a director of Turner Cars and an enthusiastic amateur racer. The Turner team used the Lea Francis engine which they enlarged to 2 litre and further enhanced its performance with a twin plug cylinder head of their own design and fitted twin SU carburettors, the engine gave approximately 145hp and was mated to an Armstrong pre selector gearbox. Driven in period by John Webb, Ron Flockhart and more successfully by Jack Fairman at events such as Goodwood, Silverstone and Cystal Palace throughout the early ‘50’s. the car retired into the ownership of the Perkins family in the late 1950’s where it remained for over half a century before being inherited by the current owner in 2011. A historically significant and interesting little car which opens the door to some of the best historic racing or hillclimb events. Restored in the 1990’s by Rod Jolly and more recently recommissioned by IN Racing in 2017, the car has current HTP’s and is waiting to be enjoyed by its next owner. £90k
