1964 Brabham BT8#SC-5-64

In the pantheon of sports cars, the brilliantly rewarding to drive Ron Tauranac masterpiece, The 1964 designed BT-8, stands at the very pinnacle. His second sports car design could, and did, carry multiple engine types to compete in various categories in the UK and around the world with examples competing in: The Targa Florio, Singapore, Riverside and Canadian Grand Prix, Nassau Speed Weeks, The Tourist Trophy, in addition it won multiple American Sports car Championships over many years, and of course there is Goodwood which needs no introduction. This unique engine and gearbox example was especially ordered with a slightly bored version of the 1,500 cc BRM V-8 GP World Championship winning engine and its 6-speed gearbox and magnesium wheels for entry in the very popular up to 2-liter class. The 1880cc machine in the hands of Jack Brabham won its class on its 1964 Goodwood debut in the Lavant Cup and finished third overall only 5 “behind Jackie Stewart in a Cooper Monaco with a 20% larger engine and 11” behind the leader in a similarly 2.5 Ltr engined Lotus 19. In its wake followed Lotus 23Bs, more Lotus 19’s, a Porsche 904 GTS, Elva MkVII’s, and Lola’s with the closest challenger being 40” back. The models outstanding speed and ease of handling would take it to fame all over the world but this GP engine-based car is perhaps the finest example. Welcome in any company, anywhere whether: racing, parading or showing its immaculate originality down to its original sized wheels and tires at any Concourse it stands as a credit to its past and present owners known to all as much for the fastidiousness of their custodianship as for their speed on the tracks. Highly recommended with FIA and HTP certification.
