This distinctive and unique car was designed and built by Morris “Mo” Nunn. Driven by Rikky von Opel, son of rocket car pioneer Fritz von Opel and the great grandson of Adam Opel, founder of car-maker Opel. Making its debut at the 1973 French Grand Prix Paul Ricard circuit finishing 15th A busy season for Team Ensign unfortunately, without a lot of success. The Ensign N173 was a typical race car of the period, built around a monocoque powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine, driving the rear wheels through a 5 speed Hewland gearbox. Supersede by the 1974 N174. Recently restored by Hoole racing and restoration.
